Although most parts of the country are beginning to cool down this time of year, Texas is still hot as heck! Sure, the thought of curling up in a warm sweater and sipping cocoa might be appealing, but once you step outside, you’re shocked into reality that fall in Texas isn’t quite like fall around the rest of the country. With that in mind, that doesn’t mean that we lack fun fall activities. Check out the 5 fun things to do in Texas in the fall.

Visit a Corn Maze | Many family farms look to bring in extra money by creating corn mazes. This activity gets you out into the fresh air, requires problem solving skills, and allows you to support local farmers. Pack a thermos with some cold cider and enjoy the adventure with the kids.

Haunted House | Although haunted houses might not seem very family friendly, there are a range of haunted houses out there. Each one is tailored to meet a different age group and provides a different level of scariness. So whether you’ve got toddlers or teenagers, there’s sure to be a haunted house that will thrill you.

Wurstfest | This annual festival takes place in New Braunfels and provides 10 days of fun, food, and drinks. If you love sausage and the German culture, you will love the taste that this festival provides. You’ll also enjoy the carnival and traditional dancing. It takes place this year from November 7 – 16.

State Fair of Texas in Dallas | The Texas State Fair takes place from September 26 through October 19. Put on your cowboy hat, boots, and get ready to enjoy some deep fried goodness. One hit that you’re sure to love this year are deep fried Sriracha balls. The Chevy main stage will feature 85 concerts over the course of the fair. You’ll also have a chance to check out tons of animals, carnival activities, and more.

Climb Mount Bonnell | Located alongside the Lake Austin portion of the Colorado River, Mount Bonnell provides incredible views of the area and is a great hike. It’s been a favorite since the 1800’s and is popular among locals and tourists alike.
