Brrrr…there’s a chill in the air, and we’ve even seen snow in some areas of Texas. It’s about time, right? After the December we’ve had, we’re ready for some winter fun! And what better way to celebrate the cooler temperatures than with a visit to some of these East Texas spots.

While the Trail of Lights in Austin has ended for the year, it’s not too late to check out the Festival of Lights in Galveston. Running until January 10th, the mile-long trail at Moody Garden features over a million shimmering bulbs. Plus, with activities like the Arctic Slide and an ice skating rink, this is the perfect destination for winter family fun!

Never one to be outdone, the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center has over two million bulbs on display. Decked out in a winter wonderland, the resort is host to a variety of winter activities including a scavenger hunt, gingerbread decorating workshops, and visits from the Claus family. Ending on January 3rd, the winter events at the Gaylord Texan Resort are fun-filled, but can run a little steep so check out Groupon for deals before heading out.

On January 9th, head down to Porter, Texas for the always popular East Texas Fire & Ice Festival. The free event is a fun way to welcome in the new year, and features some great activities for kids, plus a performance by Grammy-award winning artist Joe Diffie.

For family-friendly activities throughout the year, there is no better place to be than East Texas. And for all the best deals on an amazing inventory of RVs, there’s no better dealership than Explore USA! Visit one of our eight East Texas locations today!
