If you’re looking for a much needed break from the sweltering Texas heat, you need to head over to New Braunfels, Texas’ famed waterpark: Schlitterbahn. This family owned and operated park opened in 1979 and offers over 70 acres of family fun and adventure. For 16 years Schlitterbahn has been rated the World’s Best Water Park and it’s no wonder why.
Schlitterbahn has something to offer everyone.
PreSchool Age
Several attractions are available to young children. Sea Creature Cove offers a fierce dragon that children can pretend to slay, along with two mushrooms that spray water. Butterfly Bayou offers tons of small water slides and mini pools that children can splash around in. Looking for a water fantasy land to engage the kids? Polywog Pond Kiddie Park provides slides, water features that spray water, and suspension bridges.
Tweens
Tweens aren’t easy to please, but you can rest assured your tween will love Schlitterbahn. Kristal River is one of three endless rivers that you can continuously float, swim, or hop on fake alligators. If your tween is a thrill seeker, your tween will love the Double Loop Body Slide, which twists around tree tops and propels riders into a pool near the Comal River. The aggressive White Water Tube Channel pushes riders down a vortex and down a large waterfall.
Teens
With huge drops and a quick speed, the Skycoaster combines skydiving and hang gliding and allows you to fly over Blastenhoff. This ride costs extra to ride, but is worth it. Bahnzai Pipeline is offers smaller drops, but high thrills and high speeds. Riding on an inner tube you get a brief view of the park, then ride 600 feet of twisting, exhilarating fiberglass.
Adults
Deluge offers rapids and thrills where you get to choose your own adventure. You float down a wild river and can connect to the Falls. Cliffhanger Tube Chute takes you through the wilderness and down an incredibly fast track that ends at the edge of the Comal River. This ride’s secluded location means that the waits times are less than many other rides.
If you’re looking for fun for the entire family, Schlitterbahn is where it’s at. Check out everything Schlitterbahn has to offer at their website.
