There are tons of binoculars on the market so doing a little research before you shop will make you a more informed shopper.
When you are out shopping for a pair of binoculars, understanding the type and quality are most important. Also, determine a budget of how much you want to spend on a pair of binoculars. The size of the binoculars is important. There are all types of binos from large to compact. A good rule of thumb, is that the larger the binos the more magnification you will have. The downside to them though is that they are on the bigger so they may be more of an inconvenience to tote around.
Other simportant feature of binos is clarity, field of view and water/fog-proof. Again, the quality will range from low to very expensive with the more expensive options being optic glass and prisms. For the field of view helps making spotting the birds easier, so usually the larger the better. Depending on what part of the country you will be spending your time bird watching, you may want to consider a pair of binos that are waterproof or even fog proof.
