Laminate or Carpet Floors for Your Texas Travel Trailer or Fifth Wheel?

It is time to replace the flooring in your Texas travel trailer or fifth wheel? If it is, you’ve got an important decision to make: laminate or carpet floors? Honestly, there really isn’t a right or wrong choice here – it’s purely up to you RV lifestyle and preference. As with all things, there are pros and cons to both.

Let’s take a look at both. We’ll start with carpet. Carpet makes for a great insulator no matter the season and will help reduce energy use by keeping the hot and cold from radiating upward. Carpet also acts as a noise reducer by cutting down echo and absorbing sounds. The downside? Carpet attracts dirt, dust and all sorts of other things which makes it much harder to clean. You’ll also have worry about it changing color over time if you go with a white or beige.

If you’re worried about maintaining your floor, then laminate may be more appealing to you. It’s pretty easy to maintain and it’s also cheaper to purchase and install. When it comes to options, you’ve got plenty. All of which will last you a long time. If you have a lot of traffic coming in and out of your RV, then laminate is a great choice. But you’ll have to trade those advantages from the insulation you’ll get with carpet. Laminate doesn’t absorb heat, cold or sound. You’ll also have to worry about warping.

See what I mean about pros and cons of both? So my friends, the option is totally up to you. Factor in your lifestyle and see what fits you best. Of course you can always come see you number one  Texas RV dealership and get some advice from the ExploreUSA RV experts. We’re always happy to help!
