How to Prepare for a Cross Country RV Road Trip!

Thinking about a cross country RV trip?  It can sound a bit daunting, but with the right preparation it will be a fantastic time! Here are some tips on planning your cross country trip below.

The first thing you’ll want to do is map out your trip.  Planning a cross country trip can take some time so be patient, especially if more than one person is involved in the planning. Once you have your route planned you’ll need to calculate the time you will be traveling between each place as well as the time spent at each place.  Next, you’ll want to set up a budget for gas, food, shopping and have an emergency reserve just in case you run into some unplanned events.

Now that some general pre-trip plans are in the works, you’ll want to take your RV into get serviced and checked out to make everything is good to go.  ExploreUSA RV Supercenter is a great place to take you RV Texas!

While the RV is getting a cross country checkup, it is now time to make some lists of what needs to go in the RV. If this is the first time in your RV then know ahead of time that you will most likely forget or bring unnecessary items, so don’t beat yourself up about it. Heck, this even happens to seasoned RVers!  But, packing the RV will get easier and faster the more times you get out in the RV.

A few important things that you don’t want to forget are tools, first aid kit and prescriptions. Of course all of the items are important, but these are just a little more important.

It is good to pack enough clothes to last five to six days which means you’ll have to schedule a laundry day once a week.  You may also want to pack enough food to eat for about five days as well or a day or two shorter if you find that you don’t have a lot of storage room. You may also want to consider packing more dry goods like powered milk, peanut butter, etc. to avoid spoilage.

Pack all of the cabinets and storage areas as tight as possible so that items won’t shift while the RV is in motion. You also need to make sure all items are secured as well. Using storage bins can help you keep organized and as well as make better use of cabinets. Labeling your bins is helpful too.
